Torasaurus - TV Torrent Scraper
Lately I’ve been fascinated with scrapers, little web programs that go out and grab data from here and there, and package it up for the user. For fun, I built a little app that will cache eztv.it’s twitter stream —thus creating a database of torrents. I added a little bit of regular expression nerd-ery to parse out the show name, season, and episode from the crazy torrent names such as: “Conan O Brien 2009 07 14 Michael Phelps HDTV XviD-DVSKY [eztv]”.
Last night I played around with trying to fetch an episodes title through epguides.com, which is now mostly working. The fine people at epguides.com apparently aren’t too keen on standards of any sort, so that makes parsing data a wee bit annoying.
